FAQ

When was the Athena Institute founded?

The idea to establish such an institution was born in the spring of 2009. After the necessary preparations, the Athena Institute started to function in the summer of 2010.

Why it is a research institution?

Sometimes people have mixed feelings toward non-governmental organizations, questioning their independence or professional conduct from time to time. In contrast to this, the Athena Institute takes extra effort to maintain its independence and professional integrity. The institution seeks quality and objectivity, while its focus is on facts and evidence. This is the reason why we do not use the term non-governmental organization to describe the Athena Institute, although we recognize that others sometimes do.

How to get in touch?

The Athena Institute can be easily contacted via the website by filling in the necessary fields under the Contact section.

How do you choose your projects?

The Athena Institute focuses on the fight against extremism and terrorism, and the furthering of social, economic and environmental sustainability in Europe. We make decisions on projects in the light of this: whether given project brings us closer to understanding, furthering and tackling these issues and phenomena.

Does the Athena Institute take sides in questions of party politics?

Activities of the Athena Institute are strictly non-partisan. Thus, the Institute neither takes sides in party politics, nor does it endorse political parties or candidates.
